Over in the US it’s National Novel Writing Month. This annual event hails from America but it is very much a web based creative writing project. People from all over the world get involved, including thousands of us right here in the UK. The challenge is for participants to write a novel, with a minimum of 50,000 words, between the 1st and 30th of November. Crazy right!?
As impossible as it may sound, tonnes of people accomplish this in such short time. The goal of the event is to get people writing and to keep people motivated during the writing process. The event now has a worldwide community, with local meeting places all over the globe and online support too.

The whole idea of Novel Writing Month is to get people finishing content rather than perfecting it. Editing will take care of the tweaks and perfections. What most writers struggle with is actually completing a story. So, to coincide with this ambition and to celebrate Novel Writing Month, we are launching are own story competition – where you will need a good start and a solid end!
